SRI LANKA ECOTOURISM FOUNDATION

The Objectives of the Training Institute for Sustainable Energy (TISE)

To support small and medium scale entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka in Capacity Building/Training, on Renewable Energy Systems, specially the solar energy. At the moment there is no training facility to study about solar energy in Sri Lanka.

To initiate academic, researches and training programmes, conduct conferences, workshops and to arrange study field trips to learn about sustainable energy products in Sri Lanka and abroad

To disseminate the latest information on 'Renewable Energy Developments World Wide' through print and electronic media, websites etc.

To work in close liaisons with the Ministry of Power and Energy and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Sri Lanka

To network with similar organizations in Sri Lanka and other countries in the world that promote renewable energy systems and address the environmental and climate change issues

To introduce and made available various types of Solar Lighting Systems, equipment, different spare parts- for assembling purposes- at an affordable price.

Address major issues of lack of qualified service personal in handling solar service systems, that creates obstacles in installing and servicing of the solar equipment in Sri Lanka. At present only the big companies which are selling solar lighting systems at exorbitant prices have the access for the qualified solar technicians.

Make arrangements through TISE to popularize the Solar Lighting Systems in Sri Lanka by training, mainly the unemployed youth from the villages as technicians and offer them technical know-how together with essential spare parts and equipment such as Solar Panels, Batteries, Inverters, Solar Charges at very affordable price so that they assemble their own solar lighting systems by themselves through the technical and other logistics support offered by the TISE.

TISE is already in touch with a very reputed International Business Partners who assured in providing of all technical and logistic expertise to train Sri Lankans and provide all equipment at very reasonable terms.

Benefits for Sri Lanka

Renewable energy facilities generally require less maintenance than traditional generators. Their fuel being derived from natural and available resources reduces the costs of operation

It is renewable, sustainable and never run out

Can save valuable foreign exchange on importing Conventional Fossil Fuels.

Even more importantly, renewable energy produces little or no waste products such as carbon dioxide or other chemical pollutants, so has minimal impact and strain on the environment.

Renewable energy projects can also bring economic benefits to local population as most projects are located away from large urban centers and suburbs of the capital cities. These economic benefits may contribute to uplift the lifestyle of local communities and small industries such as SME tourism

Benefits for the community in Sri Lanka

When the community gets a training on assembling, handling and production of small scale solar lighting and other utility systems they could use systems for their home lighting and other electricity purposes by reducing the electricity costs

Production of low-cost solar systems could be an Income Generating Activity (IGA) for rural youth

Once the manufacturing of solar systems are developed at local level it will help to reduce the unemployment problems

Offer training opportunities and facilities on renewable energy in reputed institutions in Sri Lanka and abroad

The activities and training programmes planned by the Training Institute for Sustainable Energy (TISE)

Conduct regular training programmes based on selected modules on theory and practice on Sustainable Energy

Offer scientific practical training by the foreign and local experts and resource persons in Renewable Energy

Import quality solar equipments form reputed suppliers worldwide and made available at an affordable price for the persons trained by TISE for assembling purposes

Support in marketing of Solar Systems produced by the trainees of TISE
