The first South Asia Sub-regional Forum organized by the Asian Development Bank in association with Si Lanka Tourism was held at Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 15th & 16th Mach, 2012.
During the meeting, the working group held talks with ADB and private sector representatives to explore areas where cooperation on tourism could be stepped up. It is emphasized that developing and managing the industry in future will require increasingly close ties between the public and private sectors to ensure that the benefits are fully inclusive and that natural and cultural heritage sites are kept financially and environmentally sustainable. The countries will promote public-private partnership for sustainable tourism development of acceptable standards and develop tourism infrastructure to support increased tourism and new livelihood opportunities for less developed
